Technical Interest Groups
Purpose
To facilitate technical exchange and the organization of members’ interests by subject matter, the Society provides an organization structure based on Divisions, with each Division encompassing one or more Technical Interest Groups or Task Groups.
There are currently 18 Technical Interest Groups organized into 6 Divisions. Each Division has a Division Coordinator who is appointed by the President on a 3-year rotating basis. Each Technical Interest Group has a Chair who serves a 3-year term.
Benefits
Involvement with a Technical Interest Group provides members with a way to network with others who are interested in similar technical issues. Members may specify their interest in various TIGs annually upon renewal of their membership.
Past activities of TIGs include:
- Conducting technical programs at the International Convention,
- Compiling papers for a published proceedings from the International Convention program,
- Assisting in the development of technical, business, and special interest meetings throughout the year, and
- Producing and distributing newsletters to the TIG members.
