Information for Journal of Forest Products Business Research Authors

The primary purpose of the Journal of Forest Products Business Research (JFPBR) is to communicate scientific research findings. Referees selected by the Editor as well as one member of the Editorial Board review submitted manuscripts; however, final evaluation of the material rests with the Editor. All manuscripts will be reviewed in a double-blind process.

Manuscript Tracker

Once a paper has been accepted for publication, it is assigned a number. Authors can track the progress of their papers through the review system by visiting www.forestry.ubc.ca/jfpbr.

Publication Style Sheet

The original submission of a manuscript for review must be done entirely in electronic form (Microsoft Word preferred). All figures/tables/pictures/drawings should be placed in the text near where they are referenced. Use of color is encouraged. The manuscript should be double spaced throughout, in an 8-½ by 11 inch page size. All pages except the author and title page should be numbered consecutively. The sequence of material in the manuscript as submitted should be: author page, title page, abstract, text, acknowledgments, and literature cited.

  1. The author page should include the authors’ names, titles, affiliations, complete addresses of the affiliations, and e-mail addresses.
  2. The title should be as concise as possible.
  3. The abstract should contain, in very condensed form (250 words max), the essence of the whole work. It should summarize why the work was done, what was done and how, and results and conclusions, with mention of the significance.
  4. Make certain all figures, tables, and references are mentioned in the text. References should be cited in parentheses at the appropriate location in the text using author-date style. For example, (Brown and Banks 1999; Adams 1997; Evans et al. 1985) – in chronological order. Authors are referred to “Scientific Style and Format: The CBE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers,” 6th edition, for questions of style not addressed here. The Editor will make final decisions regarding form and style.
  5. References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in a section called “Literature Cited”. References should be listed alphabetically (if an author is repeated, the sequence is single author first, then two authors, etc.). Use lowercase for periodical titles and uppercase for main words in book titles. Translate foreign titles specifying the language and if an English abstract is available.
  6. All tables and figures should be inserted in the text. Tables should be kept simple and used for summary data, rather than raw data, if possible.
  7. Manuscripts published in the Journal of Forest Products Business Research are subject to a page charge of $20 per page. E-mail submissions to the Editor, rob.kozak@ubc.ca. The mailing address is:
