71th International Convention

Starkville, Mississippi, USA

The 71th Forest Products Society (FPS) International Convention was held June 2017 in Starkville, Mississippi, USA. The annual International Convention is the premier event for professionals in the forest products industry. The Convention brings together hundreds of scientists, design professionals, managers, decision makers, and others from academia, government, nonprofit, and private industry sectors to discuss the state of forest products research and learn about innovations in the field.

Wood remains one of our most important renewable construction materials - a natural resource that contributes to the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of the planet. The Convention is a showcase for ideas: research, development, philosophy, technology. The boundaries between industry sectors are gone. Cross-pollination is the goal.

The 71th International Convention featured sessions targeting wood properties in construction, wood and the environment, education and marketing for the forest products industry, and advances in technology.

October 9-11, 2013
International Conference on Wood Adhesives 2013
Toronto, Ontario CANADA

This conference has been held every 4-5 years to ensure that we have high attendance from those in the wood adhesive community and that totally new information is provided at the meeting. The wood adhesive meetings have seen continued growth in international attendance. Along with putting emphasis on international transfer of information, we want to expand the emphasis on the impact of energy on bonded wood products and the needs for more effective use of wood resources. Energy conservation and efficient use of wood resources whether in the final building performance, construction of the building, or production of bonded wood products plays an increasing role. This has led to a continuing need for research and implementation of new adhesives and bonded wood products. The conference is an important forum for interchange of knowledge and ideas for both the adhesive and the bonded wood products community. This will be the first meeting held outside the United States.

North American Wood Window and Door Symposium
Roseville, Minnesota USA

This is an inaugural event that will focus on the use of wood and wood-based materials in wood window and door manufacturing. In this new era of green technology, consumers are looking for products with outstanding performance with minimal impacts to the environment. From a materials standpoint, wood is perfectly suited to fill such a need. It is renewable, environmentally-friendly, and, with proper maintenance, can outlast comparable materials.

The purpose of this conference is to ensure that wood remains a viable option for windows and doors and to educate attendees of the benefits of wooden fenestration, as well provide instruction that will ensure optimal performance of these products. The target audience will consist of manufacturers, architects, contractors, designers, researchers, and policy makers who influence selection of materials for residential and commercial construction.  In this new era of green technology, consumers are looking for products with outstanding performance with minimal impacts to the environment.
